A bit about me

I got my start in Ukraine, with a Computer Engineering diploma from Novyi Rozdil Polytechnic College. After that I spent four and a half years as a systems and networks engineer at a hospital in Lviv — hands-on hardware and software support, and dealing directly with vendors, which taught me as much about people as it did about equipment.

From there I went through a Web Developer program, also in Lviv, before moving to Montreal. I started with an English program at McGill to get my footing, then built up IT experience here in Canada, which eventually led to POS Administration at Dollarama.

Day to day that means POS environments, Windows administration, hardware deployment and imaging, and endpoint management, with a fair amount of PowerShell scripting running through all of it to keep the repetitive parts manageable.

Outside of work I run Fedora Linux with KDE, and I keep a homelab going — Home Assistant for the smart-home side of things, runtipi for self-hosting the rest. I also play music: guitar and cajón for fun, and I've studied accordion more formally.
